Technical Lead - £1000/day inside IR35 - 6 month contract - Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to support a major Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) transformation programme within a large Engineering organisation. This role will provide end-to-end technical leadership across the replacement of a core MRO system, currently in the Initiation/Discovery phase, focused on strategy definition, solution selection, and impact assessment.

The Technical Lead will act as the central point of coordination across all technology workstreams, working closely with business stakeholders, technical SMEs, vendors, and programme leadership to ensure successful technical delivery. The role requires strong architectural oversight, cross-domain coordination, and the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to senior stakeholders.

While initially 6 months, as joining so early in the project likely to run for significantly longer.

This will be a hybrid contract, with remote working and attendance at a UK client site (Waterside) three days per week during key phases of the programme.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and coordination across all technology workstreams, including solution design, data migration, integration, cybersecurity, infrastructure, service delivery, testing, and cutover.

• Act as the primary technical liaison to programme leadership and senior stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and key decisions.

• Oversee solution architecture and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and governance.

• Facilitate and contribute to technical design authority forums, supporting resolution of complex technical issues.

• Lead data migration planning and execution, including data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and governance.

• Coordinate the design and delivery of integrations between the selected MRO solution and wider enterprise systems.

• Ensure technical solutions meet cybersecurity, regulatory, and compliance requirements, managing technical risks and mitigation strategies.

• Oversee readiness of infrastructure, hosting platforms, networks, and environments for implementation.

• Define and support service delivery models and business-as-usual (BAU) support arrangements.

• Coordinate technical testing activities including system integration testing (SIT), performance testing, and UAT support.

• Lead technical cutover planning and execution to minimise operational disruption.

• Coordinate and manage technical teams across architecture, integration, and data management disciplines.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Platform Technical Lead, Principal Architect, or Enterprise Architect with strong technical leadership capability.

• Proven experience delivering technical solutions on large-scale ERP and/or MRO transformation programmes.

• Strong understanding of solution architecture, data migration, system integration, and infrastructure delivery.

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical dependencies and drive cross-domain decision-making.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior leadership.

• Experience with Aviation MRO platforms such as AMOS and/or SAP is highly desirable.

• Ability to attend a UK client site (Waterside) three days per week.
